The process of deforestation has continued at an alarming rate. Natural forests and plantation- are subjected
to illegal felling and encroachment in many parts of the country. Yet, the rate of development of manmade
plantations do not keep pace with the increasing demand of forest products, and account for a very small percent of the rate at which natural forests disappear. In general, the current trend shows a decline in forest resources and an increase in degradation.
